Laptop, phone, tablet screen repairs or battery replacements
Island Computers does not fix laptop or phone screens or replace phone batteries of any kind. Please contact Apple directly for the repair of their products. You could try one of the many businesses offering repairs in our area, such as Case's Galore in the entrance of the Wonthaggi Plaza or the phone repair stall in the Woolworth's centre in Cowes. It's your choice and we take no responsibility for whom you choose to repair your devices.
Some laptop batteries can be replaced but not all of them; that's especially the case with Apple laptops. Again, go to Apple and get it done properly and under warranty.
Most laptop screens cannot be replaced. If you break it, you are probably looking at a new device or having to connect it to an external monitor. So don't break it. If you do, your best option is to get the manufacturer to replace it as third-party screens are almost always of inferior quality and a waste of money.
Take care of your gear, no matter what it is. Put a case on your phone and a hydrogel screen protector on the screen. The glass protectors are a waste of money - 98% of the time they won't save your screen if you drop it. Keep your laptop in a padded bag and don't bang it around all the time. It's not a frisbee.
Get in touch if you would like us to source a decent case for your phone or tablet and, more importantly, a hydrogel screen protector for the screen. Unfortunately Hydrogel is not available for laptops.

Support for Windows 10 ended in October 2025. Speak to us about getting it uprgaded and hopefully avoid having to purchase a new computer.

Products Supported by Island Computers
Microsoft Windows 11
Windows 11 is the only supported version.
Microsoft's support for Windows 10 ended in October 2025.
Windows 8.1 support ended in 2023.
Windows 7 ended on the 14th of January 2020.

Data transfers and setup of new computers are available for those still using Windows 10, 8.1, 7, Vista and XP.
Windows Live & Security Essentials have not been supported by Microsoft for over a decade! You use them at your own risk.
Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013 are also no longer supported by Microsoft. Please upgrade immediately. Or use Libre Office instead.
Apple computers, iPhones and iPads
Apple desktops, notebooks, iPhones, iPods, iPads. iTunes & iCloud on Windows or macOS. macOS 14 - 27 are supported. 11 and older are not.

macOS 12 (Monterey): Apple support ended in September 2024.
macOS 11 (Big Sur): No longer receives security updates.

Apple devices (iPhones, iPads, iPods and Apple TV Gen.1) with iOS18 or lower are no longer supported by Apple. Some apps will not work or be woefully out of date so bear that in mind.

Open Source Software
The Linux O.S. and Raspberry Pi are not supported, at this stage.

Mozilla Thunderbird has never been supported by Island Computers, nor will it ever be supported.
Android devices are supported, from v13 or higher.
Samsung, Google, HTC, OPPO, One+, Razer, Asus ROG, LG, etc
Be cautious with Huawei devices due to security issues and ties to the Chinese government. They also now run their own OS, not Android so no longer have access to the Google Play store.
Because of these issues, Island Computers recommend avoiding this brand completely.
