Please call Island Computers to discuss your options for purchasing a new notebook or desktop. Notebooks come in various shapes and sizes, as do desktops. All-in-one desktops have become more common and their build quality is excellent, as is their price - most of the time.
Custom built desktops are also avalable upon request, especially for gaming.

Some advice about future proofing

Computers have worse depreciation than cars. It's a heated race to be the best and products become superseded in less than a year so knowing what to choose is very important.

Purchasing Tips:
  • Shop around. Ask my advise. Don't get the first one you see or get recommended by the shop assistant.
  • Don't buy a budget or cheap machine. Get a mid to high end machine.
  • Don't choose a machine with a low end CPU. Get a mid-high end one.
    Intel is highly recommend over AMD.
  • 8GB of RAM for a notebook, not 4GB.
  • 16GB of RAM for a desktop, not 8GB.
  • 1 Terabyte drive (1TB) is standard for a notebook.  A 500 Gigabyte drive (500GB) is unacceptable.
  • Get a 500GB SSD, not a 250GB one. Or you will run out of room FAST!
  • Get two disks, 1x SSD and 1x HDD in a desktop, if possible. You'll thank me - see below re: SSD.
  • Get the latest generation of video cards, not the last one - if you can afford it.

Solid State Drives (SSD) are very affordable now so I highly recommend using one for your Windows drive and having a second Hard Disk Drive (HDD) for your personal data. The Windows boot times for an SSD are amazing and can be as little as 5 seconds! They are truly awesome!!
